How does this play with the Muslim world. On one side President Obama offers his hand of friendship to the Muslim world; his first phone call was to Mahmood Abbas, the PLA president and assigns George Mitchell to work out a peace deal in the Middle East and Richard Holbrook as special US envoy to Pakistan. Where as, on the other hand, the very next day the American drone resume bombing in FATA, Pakistan, killing twenty civilians. The argument given is the allies in this war of terror will be treated with trust and respect. Now the Pakistani governement agrees that change of administration does not guarantee change in policy, but they find that change in the tactics is in order.
Sending drone to bomb inside a sovereign nation reflects badly not only on the government of Pakistan, in fact, it induce malice and mistrust in its people towards United States along with its own government. Pakistan is right when it demands that it should be given the time and power to work with the people of the trouble areas in curbing and eradicating terrorist pockets. Obama administration must not forget that such irresponsible acts of pre-emptive strike puts Pakistan in a precarious position. It is a very difficult time for Pakistan, who is paying a heavy price of being an ally. Pakistan has been doing every thing in its power to contain the problem to the best of its abilities, and it is not taken amicably to see a friend turning already a difficult situation into a bad one.
The smart move will be to take the government of Pakistan in full confidence and develop a successful strategy that will take the people and the government of Pakistan out of this quagmire of bloodshed, and misrey that is spreading rapidly to the other regions of Pakistan. Pakistan is a land of progressive minded and hard working people, it pains them more than any one to see radical elements terrorizing them into sujugation, by blowing up schools and hotels, spreading fear by tactics such as suicide bombing, acid throwing and abduction of children for ransom. These element are trying to rob Pakistan off its financial and social backbone. No one wants to see these radical element destroyed more than Pakistan itself. United States should work hand in hand with the Pakistani government to restore peace to the people of Pakistan.
